35TH MONTH ( I found this lurking in my inbox...I typed it and forgot to post)

Your 35th month birthday was spent hanging out with your cousin Baylor at Grandma and Grandpa Bishop's house. You got to play around in the back yard...it was the first warm day in a very long time! Daddy was home for the weekend and it was a fun evening for all! At this point...one month out from your 3rd Birthday; you are very opinionated. You are speaking very well...always have, and you know what you want and when/how you want it. You are still really big on "let mommy DO IT!" and you want mommy to do just about everything :) You are sleeping through the night consistently. I've never been able to say that before. It only took 34 months to get you in your crib and comfortable sleeping through the night. I totally practiced what I now know to be called attachment parenting. You were worn in a sling most of your first year, you didn't sleep alone until you were almost three, and you have rarely HAD to be disciplined much...you've just been really good natured and well behaved. I wouldn't change a thing...I truly believe your good nature is a result of the form of parenting we (I) chose. It's funny because I started out wanting to follow the Babywise trend: http://www.babywisemom.com/ Well I've come full circle and went the other way totally :) BUT I'm happy with the result! Either method of raising a child seems to be controversial...but I like the choice I made! You are still a fantastic traveller, and unlike (I would like to assume) a babywise baby, you adapt pretty darn well to a fluctuating schedule! Tonight we are headed to the KC house...our new norm is to travel to KC once a week and spend the night. This results in a super-early morning ride back to Nevada for school and daycare. Now, not many toddlers could handle this type of craziness...you are adapting with style and grace! I'm excited to see what 3 brings...but I have to admit that we have seen a few more little mini-tantrums and you went through a phase of whining... I will touch on that later too, because I read up on a few methods to help you learn to express the feelings you are experiencing and the whining is almost gone! Well...now's the time when I kick into novice-party-planner extraordinaire, and plan what I believe to be super-cool parties!

  1. Not to brag, but sometimes you act like your Auntie Blair. Most would say this is a bad thing but I love it.
