Prior to leaving for Springfield, we were rushing around the house trying to get packed up and out the door... and found this little munchkin asleep at the counter :)
Once in Springfield, I ran into the Bass Pro convention center and grabbed my packet! I felt like a champion already to be picking up my race bib PREGNANT!!!! Such a dream come true for me...to be running at 20 weeks pregnant...and my first 1/2 marathon nonetheless!!!!!!!
Below, if you look closely, you can see me standing in street clothes against this sweet mock-marathon scene! Of course I posed for my photo!
The night before was not at all as bad as I had expected. But I did have to get dressed by cell phone light and sneak downstairs without waking Garrity up :)
The actual race was a breeze! I did not experience any pain or discomfort other than having to stop at every single port-a-potty! I had two fantastic running club pals that ran the entire race with me and even waited at each stop! I did pick up the free snacks: race beans, power aid etc. and had a few protein bars that I munched on during the run...but nothing too crazy!
I made a bib that said: BABY'S FIRST BIB!
Here we are Baby Bishop...your first 1/2 marathon!
What an amazing accomplishment...if I do say so myself! For sure one of my most proud moments in life!
